“We feel so lucky to have Heart Strings Mandarin provide Music and Movement in Mandarin at the Tigard Public Library. Sharon has a regular “fan club” here, and I have been told by several caregivers that they also follow her at other libraries. Though up to this point we have only been able to bring her here for short series’ at a time, we frequently have families ask us if she can become a regular part of our programming (and I’m working hard to make that happen). Sharon has a wonderful presence with littles; her gentle voice, her love for what she does, and her understanding of child development all show in her playful interactions with them throughout the entire program. With her use of music, stories and play in Mandarin, English and American Sign Language, she somehow manages to keep the kids engaged the entire time, which is no small feat with the mix of ages and languages of the children who attend. She is also a joy to work with outside of the time she spends with the children. She is communicative and responsive and very easy to coordinate with. I wholeheartedly recommend Heart Strings Mandarin!” ~ Holly Campbell-Polivka, Youth Services Librarian, Tigard Public Library
"Sharon Gan, of Heart Strings Mandarin is an amazing addition to our library programming for families. Sharon is professional, reliable, flexible, prompt and prepared for whatever the day may bring. She is able to adapt her program to a variety of programming spaces, and welcomes children of all ages with grace. Her weekly programs are creative, always different, and welcome all levels of learners. Her musical talent shines through no matter the instrument or the song. And she has a large following of kids who obviously enjoy learning Mandarin through music and movement." ~ Andrea Milano, Youth services Manager, Lake Oswego Public Library
